Movies that Inspire!

One of my favorite influences of style is Rococo, so naturally I would love the 2006 movie Marie Antoinette directed by the extremely talented Sofia Coppola. Marie Antoinette is played by Kirsten Dunst. She is a fashion forward pastry loving teen that gets swept off her feet to become queen. This film is fast paced, fun and has a modern take to the 18th century period piece.

The set design in this film is over the top which fits the Rococo style perfectly. Think jewel tones, silk, sateen, lace, embroidery, molding everywhere, guild, candelabras and crystal chandeliers. The fashion is soulful and elegant, costume design by Julian Patkos. If you are in need of inspiration or want to have a nice break from reality go pick up some macaroons, champagne and this movie.
