The sophisticated smart house
So excited to be working on this new project inspired by smart technology and sophisticated style. Here are the initial concepts much more to come!
The Vintage Rocker
We are thrilled to be in the beginning stages of a rock god inspired home located in San Diego. Our client whom recently moved to San Diego from Texas already has a rockin collection of cool historical art and albums.
Here is a little teaser from the M. Swabb Design team. Much more to come!

The Piano Desk
One of our clients is a musician, he moved into a loft in Hillcrest and requested a cool work space for recording music.
The inspiration behind creating this piano desk really came from knowing there was a limited budget for the space, we knew we needed to think outside the box. Thankfully, after scouting the perfect piano, we salvaged an automated one for the sale priced of $120.00!!!
It turned out more dynamic than we anticipated and is now the focal of the house.
Painted Dresser Chevron Style
Recently one of my fabulous clients wanted to give her bedroom a little face-lift. She purchased the New Adams Six Drawer Dresser from West Elm on a whim because she loved the clean lines and it was the perfect size.
As we progressed in transforming her ordinary bedroom into a stylish, cozy retreat we decided the drab dresser needed that edgy touch.
Our team was able to come up with an affordable solution by painting the dresser in my favorite contemporary pattern CHEVRON!
It was such a fun process - everything looks better with a little chevron in the room.
Dresser After:
Before
San Diego Interior Designer
When my clients purchased a new home in Rancho Bernardo they were ecstatic for the amount of space their young kids could play in.
The issue was how to fill that space on a budget and the large rectangular living room was a challenge not only to layout but convert into a cozy stylish space.
Below are a couple before and after images showing the beautiful transition.

Beautiful Banquette
This was such a fun project. My client recently downsized to a small chateau inspired apartment in San Diego so she could spend more time trotting the globe. Her budget was tight and we wanted to make use of the space and lack thereof in every possible way.
With some creative thinking and magical hands we were able to shape-shift her once pub table dining area into a cozy romantic nook. The baskets came in handy making room for extra storage space. I love the thought of her sipping coffee while reading the paper here on Saturday morning.
BEFORE
Before and Afters
I knew when I walked in the doors of this 1910 craftsman home I was in love. I grew up in a Craftsman in Redlands, California built around the same time and it reminded me so much of all the family memories we shared. The character is endless in this home. The owners have lived in it for 40 years, were newlyweds when they moved in and recently celebrated the christening of their first granddaughter.
The transition has been an artistic process. Being that the homeowners have resided in this residence for so long they had quite the collection of one of a kind finds which I love!
We were able to mix in a lot of what they already owned with new treasures.

All of the mirrors placed on this refurbished mantle have been collected throughout the 40 years of ownership.
Can you dig it?
The Parker Hotel by Jonathan Adler
One of my favorite hotels to get away is The Parker in Palm Springs. There is nothing better for a designer than to retreat in such an inspiring place! I love the mix of mid century with contemporary and just plane funky decor. In every corner there is something new and exciting to discover. I would like to give Mr. Jonathan Adler a very strong nod! Thank you...
Tile Inspiration
I remember the first couple design project I worked on, I was pretty reserved with my tile selections for clients. Tile isn't always cheap and its not something you want to overlook.
Now Its one of my very favorite stages in the design process. You can really make a room with the right materials. Here are a couple of concepts I am working on right now.
Enjoy!
Wedding in the woods.
Wedding by M. Swabb
When my brother asked me seven months ago to help him and my now sister in law plan their wedding I was thrilled. Then he told me he wanted to host the wedding at a 8+ acre YMCA campsite for three days all the while accommodating 170+ people. I was wondering what I signed myself up for. Did I mention we had a beer budget? I have to admit, nerves weren't the only thing keeping me up a night. I had some serious doubts about pulling this one off.
With a ton of planning and lots of help from friends and family members the wedding turned out better than any of us imagined.
The very long pathway to the wedding was filled with handmade origami and white paper lanterns to add texture and color, pink kissed ivory roses hanging from trees with rustic rope.
The Reception was full of organic colors and the smell of fresh mint and rosemary as they lined the tables.
All and all I must say it was well worth the risk - I would do it all over again.
